The Art of Flying - Arm Balancing Workshop with Rachel

Arm balances are unique in their ability to create a feeling of empowerment and confidence, but are the most understood class of poses in the yoga repertoire. Although they do require a small degree of strength, they are really just about learning alignment and balance. And let's face it, they're just fun! This playshop with Rachel will help you to understand and feel what is needed for the development of stronger arm balances and steadier inversions. When done correctly, the poses become effortless and there is an overall sense of lightness. We will take time with each pose to learn alignment principles, as well as specifics for your body so you will be able to access this for yourself. We'll address step-by-step techniques for getting into (& out of!) Astavakrasana, Vasisthasana, Eka Pada Bhujasana, variations of Koundinyasana & Bakasana, Tittibhasana, Pinca Mayurasana and more! When else do we get to stand on our hands and act like kids? Join Rachel for an afternoon of fun and expansion! (4 months yoga experience necessary)

ABOUT MARA CAMPBELL:
Teaching yoga became an interest of mine as I kept craving more from yoga and it kept delivering deeper and wider than I could have imagined. I have found much joy exploring the role of yoga teacher, sharing my love for yoga with others. My background is in Anusara yoga and I have taken teacher trainings from Martin and Jordan Kirk, senior Anusara instructors and John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. Anusara literally means, "flowing with grace," which for me means when we align our bodies and minds through a yoga practice, we allow ourselves to live life more skillfully; making better life enhancing choices for ourselves, others and the world.

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. ~ Anais Nin

Come and explore the life affirming possibilities that the practice of backbending brings! On a physical level, backbends strengthen the muscles of the back body, as well as the legs, shoulders, and hips. The chest, lungs, and internal organs are massaged, stretched, and toned. As we literally open our hearts, we create more freedom of movement, better posture, deeper breath patterns, and a greater feeling of well being. Emotionally, backbending will lift your spirits and energize your life. Backbending develops both strength and flexibility, enhancing both the security of self-knowledge and the flexibility of receptivity. Unleash the abundance of joy and love that resides within you as you expand the openness of your heart. Join Rachel to discover the unlimited possibilities of your heart - the transformations that you will feel will travel well beyond the boundaries of your mat!

Aligning with the Divine: Pranayama (Breathing) & Meditation Workshop

Pranayama is a Sanskrit term that means "to flow in the rhythm of the life force (prana), or to expand our experience of the life force." It is a way to align ourselves more fully with nature and with our own natural rhythms.

Many people come to yoga for stress relief, and as a way to generally feel better, but are unsure of how to bring that great feeling they have after yoga class into their everyday life. This workshop will teach many different breathing techniques to help you do just that! Join Rachel for an exploration of how the breath can help you soothe and calm yourself on busy days, revitalize and energize yourself on days when you are feeling sluggish, and align with your own natural, divine rhythms to experience life more fully. We will end with meditation techniques and a delicious deep relaxation.

NO yoga experience is necessary! Bring your friends, bring your mom, bring your grandpa - all are welcome and all will benefit.
