Childbirth Class with Ellen Winick

Please join Ellen for an exploration of the mind, body, emotions and spirit of childbirth. In this class for mom and dad (“partner/coach”), you will prepare to be active and aware participants in your birth experience. You’ll learn about what to expect during the rest of your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and how to make those experiences all that you want them to be. Ellen promises that you’ll finish the class feeling more relaxed & prepared for your upcoming birth than when you started.

We’ll cover nutrition, relaxation and exercise during pregnancy, the stages of labor including emotional and physical signs, comfort measures, how your partner can be a good coach, and preparing for your new baby. Always, our goal will be to prepare for a healthy birth for mom and baby. Every class will include a relaxation and/or meditation component.

Ellen Winick: My first pregnancy and the birth of my child in 1996 changed me forever. It was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. I developed a confidence and calm about what I could produce in my life out of that experience. And, I decided that from then on, I wanted to help others achieve the dreams they have for their births. Since making a career change from computer consultant to childbirth educator, I, hold a Masters in Education, 2 coaching certifications, and much coursework in birthing and labor support, I have taught over 200 couples about childbirth. My goal, always, is to inspire moms and their partners to be conscious and active participants in their births, communicate effectively with their healthcare providers and embrace the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual challenges of birth.

Rachel Dewan, RYT, Anusara Inspired

Rachel Dewan is a Registered Yoga Teacher with 500 hours of training, recently completing her second training in the Anusara style with Todd Norian. She has this to say about her practice & teaching: I found yoga 10 years ago as a performing musician with the physical aches & pains that accompany such physically demanding work, and soon embraced it as a way of life. Yoga has become a path of learning that has helped to shape my life in all aspects, reminding me to open to the power of grace in every moment. It is my ultimate goal as a teacher to cultivate a sense of community in my classes, bring a sense of lightness and joy to my students through an ever expanding and playful asana practice, and help them to realize their own individual and divine nature. I would like to honor and thank my teacher Todd Norian for his unconditional support, and for giving me the gift of an open and loving heart.
