OVERCOMING FEAR WITH DAVID ROMANELLI
Super Duper Namaste! I hope you can join me October 2 and 3 for some wonderful inspiration from my friend David Romanelli, author, yogi, all around good guy. He brings new topics and chocolate. What's not to like. Can't wait to see you next to me in class. Peace! Silvia
Yoga for Overcoming Fear (with special guests: chocolate by Vosges, and tunes by Sinatra)
"Think of life as a terminal illness, because, if you do, you will live it with joy and passion, as it ought to be lived." -- Anna Quindlen
Would you rather 100 bland bites of mediocre chocolate or 1 deliciously amazing bite of an exotic truffle? Would you rather live for 80 years of so-so happiness or 57 years of ecstatic joy? Would you rather 10 so-so Savasanas or 1 deep, yummy, soul-scintillating Savasana that stays with you for weeks to come? This workshop will encourage you to stop stroking yourself with promises about what may or may not happen tomorrow. Pack all of your flavor and all of your love into one tiny little moment. This one. As goes the Chinese proverb, "Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think." David's vinyasa flow yoga class set to great music (from Sinatra to Sublime) will be followed by a tasting of exotic Vosges Haut-Chocolat truffles. You will finish meditating on the gentle reminder: life is short...we best slow down and savor it.

SEPT 18, 2-4PM PARTNER YOGA WITH LIZ LEFFERT
In this workshop you and your partner will support each through a simple sequence of postures focused on breathing and gentle stretching while cultivating a deeper connection with your loved one through the give and take of partner yoga. We will also spend time learning some basic techniques from the Ancient Art of Traditional Thai Massage, including palm pressure, rhythmic rocking, and passive stretching, to relax and restore balance to the body.
This light-hearted practice will help us to be present and focus on each other. We will listen quietly, tuning into our partner as we give the compassion and healing energy that we ourselves would like to receive.
Help to strengthen your connection while having fun together at the same time. There is absolutely no experience necessary.
Liz Leffert has been an avid student of yoga since 2003. Her interest in natural therapies led her to a career as Registered Yoga Instructor and Massage therapist. She has studied various western massage modalities and has in addition, over 220 hours of study at the Thai Bodywork School in Evanston with Chuck Duff. Liz recently realized a longtime dream of going to Thailand, where she spent two months, including one month of study with various Thai Massage teachers in the Northern Province of Chiang Mai.

And of course I am gearing up for Teacher Training starting October 13th! And the more Yoga I do the more clear I become on what my intentions are for the Best Life ever. A fundamental intention I am rededicating myself to this Fall is participating more directly in making the world a better place. As such I am donating part of the proceeds from all my classes this week to an event I am participating in virtually, Bike MS, sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. They remind me that it takes only 1 person to inspire hundreds!
Every hour of every day, someone hears the words "you have multiple sclerosis." So for many personal reasons this is something very close to my heart. And my Team Mile'n for Myelin is working hard to meet our fund raising goals so no one else ever has to hear the words, "You have MS." If you'd like to donate $5 to me directly please visit here http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Bike/WASBikeEvents?px=8721783&pg=personal&fr_id=13100
This Fall as you set up your intentions as part of your Spiritual Routine (lose weight, sleep better, decrease stress, exercise more, be more patient, gossip less, love more) I encourage you to think about being more involved with your community because to me the most important thing you can collect at TBY is friends, not poses. Please take a moment to check out all the great stuff we are offering to help you connect with yourself and with others. May this earth be blessed with your peaceful contribution! With lovingkindess, Silvia
CHAKRAS RELATED TO THE SELF
AUGUST 15, 2010. One of my favorite workshops to teach is the Chakra Salutation Workshop each year. One of the key take aways from this self-time is understanding the Chakras related to the "Self". I hope that connecting the dots so to speak of how each chakra can be either deficient or excessive through this lens of "self" helps you to more easily identify where you need to focus. The ultimate intention is we achieve as state where all of this "self" intention is balanced and tuned in. Enjoy! Love yourself, love your day, love your life, Silvia

YOGA IS A DISCIPLINE THAT MAKES MY LIFE WORK.
JANUARY 11TH, 2010: So tonight at 6:15pm Level 1 and 7:30pm Basics this was our philosophical focus. We used the poses and the breath to speak for themselves as they contributed to our ordinary happiness. I think we all want to on some level make our lives work a little or a lot better. This is part of our innate human spirit to evolve our happiness. Many times students come to TBY wanting to make changes, aspiring to create meaning in their lives but they're so gosh darn busy keeping up with the day to day detail jam packed into their lives they can't see how to make them work any better. So we just keep going along in CHAOS.
Coming to a group class is where we can receive an inspiration talk, expert instruction and get back into our own bodies. We move from a state of chaos back to a feelign state and thinking state where we are once more in alignment. Upon leaving class after this "tune-up" our lives work better. Think of it like this: the student is like a piece of metal and the teacher and/or other students are like a magnet. And then it's just plain science:
“In a plain piece of metal, all the molecules are in chaos facing every which way. A magnet is a similar piece of metal in which all the molecules are perfectly aligned – the north pol,es facing one way, and the south poles facing in the opposite direction. Because of this alignment, the magnet gains the power to attract and hold other objects. If you stroke the ordinary metal and the magnet together in one direction only, the magnet will align all the molecules in the plain metal with itself, causing a second magnet to emerge. The power to attract and hold has been transmitted from one to the other, while amazingly enough the initial magnet retains its full strength. As we align our energies this way through regulating our breath we maintain calm through the ordinary emotional rollercoaster rides we encounter each day. We find that when we are upset, everything around us reflects the same disturbance, as if it is somehow contagious. When tranquility prevails, it magnetizes everything with the same sense of calmness.” (Story from The Secret Power Of Yoga.) Love and peace, Silvia
Hi You Guys,
I want to thank you for all the amazing conversations I have each day with you. Please keep the emails and calls coming. I thoroughly enjoy every interaction! And I wanted you to know that I recognize what it takes to reach out. I see the effort on your part to talk, to get to class, to write a note. Every single one of us matters. Sometimes we think we don’t but we truly do matter. And I am paying total attention.
Yoga teaches us that we are all looking for something that will connect us more deeply to ourselves and through that knowing the truth of the spirit self (Atman) there is a recognition that we all leave an imprint on everyone we meet. When you think of it, in all the random meetings we have with folks each day we can be the ANSWER or BLESSING for another person. That’s a powerful responsibility.
What imprint are you making on the world? What is your legacy? Can you take five minutes today to make a conscious effort to consider how you can connect to others in such a way that you can make a positive difference? I would love for you to join me for FREE tomorrow night July 9th, 7:30pm-9pm for Yoga and Journaling where we’ll have time to reflect on the things we’ve done this week to uplift another person (an email, a call, a card, a compliment, giving up your parking space etc). This time to meditate on how we effect others, the “ripple effect” speaks to our greater Intention or personal mission statement. And every time we align better with our intentions we magnify our efforts. Moving the body and then journaling is a wonderful way to connect to our true desires, passions and dreams!
You deeply inspire me, your life stories make me cry, make me laugh, humble me to no end. And for all of that I thank you for letting me serve you. Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia (2009)
